Welcome to the
Rudolf Firkušný 100th Celebration 2012 website!

The Rudolf Firkušný 100th Celebration is a project of the Music Faculty of the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno to pay tribute to one of the world's foremost 20th century pianists and direct student of Leoš Janáček. The project is organized under the patronage of Roman Onderka, the mayor of the city of Brno, Michal Hašek, the president of the South Moravian Region and Ivo Medek, the rector of the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno.

During the five days' duration of the Celebration, three concerts, master classes, and a musicology conference will take place. Accepting our invitation to pay tribute to their most respected and revered professor, all of the participants in these events have either been students of Master Firkušný at the famous Juilliard School of Music in New York or are renowned Czech music experts. In addition, we will be honored to personally welcome Mrs. Veronique Firkušný, daughter of Master Firkušný, at the Celebration.

We look forward to your participation at this very special event which is surely the world's most important commemoration of the legacy of great pianist and professor, Master Rudolf Firkušný.
